Do I meet the Fitness Requirements?

Fitness Chart

What should I wear?

All trail riders must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. All hats must be secured either with strings or very snug– Paradise Valley is very windy! Riders 12 and under will be required to wear a helmet; we have extras available for anyone wishing to use one. Rides go rain or shine, so plan accordingly. We have plenty of saddle storage for extra layers (we provide rain slickers).

Where do the rides go?

The 1 hour, 2 hour, half day, and private trail rides leave directly from the Chico Hot Springs Resort property onto the rolling hills of Chico’s Ranch 635. Beautiful, 360 views of Paradise Valley ensue. The half day ride climbs into the Gallatin National Forest for a spectacular mountainside adventure.

Full day trail rides are located at one of a number of trail heads in northern Yellowstone National Park. The ride can range anywhere from 10-15 miles into the back country of Yellowstone which gives ample opportunity for sightseeing and wildlife viewing.

What should I bring?

The most important things are proper attire and a sense of adventure! We do have plenty of saddle bag storage for any additional items guests feel they need, but please leave backpacks behind. Snacks and drinks are provided on half and full day trail rides.

How much are the rides? Do you give group discounts?

Please see our Rates Page for current season pricing information. Group discounts are not available.

My child is not 8 years old, can s/he ride with me on my horse?

No. This poses a safety hazard to all concerned. For those horse people 4-7 years of age, we offer our fun-filled Pony Express.

What if I am late or do not show up for the ride?

Our policy is that all riders must be present 30 minutes before the ride in order to complete paperwork and participate in the safety orientation.  We reserve the right to forbid or reschedule riders who miss the orientation and retain a cancellation fee.  However, we understand that, especially while travelling, there are extenuating circumstances, and are typically flexible with guests altered schedules.  The best thing to do is give us a call as soon as something comes up so we can work with you!
